Authorities in New Mexico said it’s too early to comment on potential charges in connection to the deadly shooting of a cast member on the set of the movie “Rust.”
During a press conference on Wednesday, investigators said actor Alec Baldwin has been cooperating with authorities and added arrests will be made if the investigation shows a crime occurred. On Friday, Baldwin said “there are no words to convey” his shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident.
Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot earlier this month after Baldwin unknowingly fired a live round from a prop gun that was deemed by crew members as “safe.” Officials said the firearm used during the incident was an F Lee Pietta Long Colt 45 revolver.
“We know there was one live round as far as we’re concerned on set. We’re going to determine whether we suspect that there were other live rounds,” said Sheriff Adan Mendoza of the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office. “But that’s up to the testing. But right now, we’re going to determine how those got there, why they’re there, because they shouldn’t have been there.”

The film’s director, Joel Souza, was also shot and was released from the hospital Friday morning. Mendoza said there was approximately 90 people on the movie set itself and many interviews still need to be conducted for the investigation.
Meanwhile, Baldwin took to Twitter to confirm he’s been in touch with Hutchins’ husband and has offered support to him and his family.
